3/29/2024 0 Comments Total war rome 2 best factions![]() I keep meaning to give them another go, as I think I learned a lot about that sort of playstyle in my Masaesyli campaign so might make a bit more progress this time! But it's on a long list, as I seem to keep finding factions I want to have a go at, or try again with. As I understand it, Parthia's tactic is "use cheap infantry to hold the enemy just long enough for their horse archers and shock cavalry to take the enemy to pieces." In relation to the OP's question though, I think Parthia focus more on skirmishers and shock cavalry than melee cavalry, so maybe not quite what he's after. I've never played Parthia much either (I'm usually terrible with cavalry,) but yes they're a cavalry heavy faction. Was I correct to assume they had excellent cavalry? I’ve never played Parthia but I think I might next. They're more on the skirmishing side, but maybe worth a look. This gave me so many playable factions that it took forever for my turn. That does remind me though, that Masaesyli have some nice cavalry units. I personally did not enjoy Total War: Rome II as much as everyone else because I got the definitive edition. Great at lobbing sharp objects and running around though! Archers in Rome 2 are only useful when used together with other units that compliment them well - either by allowing you to shoot into the enemys flanks, scaring them to rout quickly after a few volleys or being able to stand their ground for very long, long enough for archers to whittle down the enemy army. Numidian Cavalry in Rome 2 are skirmisher cavalry, so not so good in melee.
